Testing our faith - James 1:3

During my time of prayer (by myself with Jesus), The Holy Spirit took me to a passage in the Bible, a passage I’ve read before yet was not able to grasp its full meaning. In the last three months, I’ve been getting what Dominicans call a whipping from God to the point where I’ve questioned God over this very same thing. Wondering why we go through situations and why does God allow us to go through such tough times?

Testing our faith

Last week, a doctor told my mother she had to have a surgery as quick as possible because she had ovarian cancer cells, a really expensive procedure and we did not have the money for it, my mother got so depressed when she heard this and said: I don’t really understand why do I have to be punished over my mistakes if Jesus already suffered on the cross for me. (In our culture, this kind of disease is considered a punishment from God). At that very same moment that passage came to my attention and I tried to explain to her that we are not punished, but rather tested and disciplined, in order for our faith in Christ to be strengthened and so God may get the glory. That’s why we are like the gold tried in fire, for the testing of our faith develops perseverance. And it’s impossible to wait on the will of God when we don’t have perseverance; He will not give us anything that we can’t handle. But, when we are tested, he will also provide a way out so that you can make it through.

I can see clearly now the meaning behind this passage of the Bible. I know each day has its own evil about it, and times will continue to get tougher, but God uses all these things to strengthen our faith in Jesus. Romans 8:28.

A person loaned us the money we needed and now my mother got her surgery, and keeps getting better, Thank you, Lord.

God bless you all and thank you for your prayers.
