We are pleased….let’s say pumped! (humbly speaking)…to announce the first (as far as I know) “tears.org/blog” photo contest (catchy title!)
At El Camino Church (here in Maria Auxiliadora) there is a crew of emerging photographers who have hearts to both learn and grow in the art/science of photography and to see how, through photography, they can communicate God’s love, care, and creative heart. For some, that means capturing moments during a home visit and then returning with the gift of a printed image. This captured moment is a blessing for so many who could not otherwise afford to have family photos. It is a great way to meet new people and grow relationships. For others, it may be trying to generate some income through photography so they can help a neighbor or family member who needs some financial assistance. For others, it may be spending time taking pictures of mountains, sunsets, or a new flower to show the beauty and majesty of our Creator. With cameras in hand, we want to glorify God and communicate his love and care for his world.
Now, with that as a foundation, we want to spice things up and invite you to take part. Enter: Photo Contest (good ol’ competition!) Each member of the photo team will submit one photo by Feb. 1st. All the photos (anonymously posted) will be seen here at tears.org/blog. You can simply type “I Vote For <photo letter>” in the comment section below to place your vote. So, to be clear you mark your vote in the comment section below and note the photo you are voting for.
Additionally, our great friend and super-duper photographer, Heidi Mehltretter, will also be casting her vote which is just a wee bit more weighty at 50 points. Voting will be open all month (ok, you have until midnight on Feb. 28th) and the winning photo will be the March TEARS Wallpaper and be posted here for download and the winner will be receiving a super-duper-photo-gear prize!
So, be back on Feb 1st to check out the photos and place your vote (your ONE vote) and comments (you get as many comments as you want).
NOTE: the first 8 images are just to show the team in action. The images in the contest are noted with a label (e.g., “photo G“)

It’s difficult!!!!!
B, I think. I love the dutch tilt, and how everything points you (literally and linearly) to those missing teeth!
D is just beautiful, color and motion, and the water splashing and the joy on the boys’ face make me smile on E. A makes me homesick for the DR, and D tells a story and makes me want to read the next chapter. But, I guess I’ll vote for B. Oh, how you all make me long to be there!!!

Yo quisiera votar de hecho por la D, pero no creo que esto sea una votación justa, hay personas que en su msn están haciendo promoción diciendo vota por esta o por aquella, así no van a tener una votación justa, porque las personas no estarían votando por la mejor foto, sino más bien por la foto de su amigo.

I vote for “D” - it’s so pretty! They’re all so cool in their own way that it’s hard to compare them - apples and oranges! But I’m drawn to the colour and light of D.

i know I’m late but i just got back from Jamaica yesterday (is that as good as “the dog ate my homework’?) if i still can, i vote for the heart and spirit in B…..if my vote is too late, let me say they are all beautiful and this contest is a really good idea!
