We are pleased to have this guest blog by Wanda Smith (Mujercita ministry leader and T.E.A.R.S. School staff member). Read Wanda’s words on the impact that the Mujercita ministry is having on the lives of many girls here in the barrio.

Mujercitas has made such an impact on our barrio and other surrounding barrios. It has been the way we’ve been able to get to our girls in an easy and effective way. We have about 40 girls who get together on Saturdays in different small groups. How do these groups work? We prepare the girls who have a calling to work at kids’ church and alongside the leaders of the kids’ church they participate biweekly in this service for children. Another group has a meeting where we share different topics such as their relationship with God, dating, growing in the Gospel, about their witness and how they can be a light at home and in their community. They’re also taking crafts lessons making earrings, necklaces and, once they’re ready, they sell them and it’s a way to teach them to raise support for the activities.
To take time for these girls is very important in our society and in our country. At their age, they’re the most vulnerable and the enemy is just getting them to do things–such as prostitution, pregnancy, or joining a gang–which mark them for the rest of their lives.
Recently, we had a baptism and 4 were baptized and their witness, their testimony is a great help the rest of them.
For me it’s a such a joy to be able to see God at work in the lives of these girls and also to know the love God has for them–He does not see what men see but rather He uses them for His glory.
Wanda

I am so proud of wanda and the other mentors. Please keep them in your prayers as they try to stay motivated under very difficult circumstances.
