Last Saturday, the 21st of November, we had a soccer tournament amongst the kids on our team. These are the same children and teens that attend to receive soccer training and to hear about Jesus. The goal of the tournament was to motivate them towards more unity and comradeship amongst themselves. It is also a good opportunity to show the love of Jesus to opponents, given that sometimes due to the nature of the game there are collisions. Even though the easiest thing to do in that situation is to argue and even fight, it is in such moments that they can apply the gospel.
El pasado sábado 21 de Noviembre, empezamos un torneo interno de futbol con los mismos niños y jóvenes que asisten a tomar entrenamiento y a escuchar acerca de Jesús; esto con el fin de motivarlos mas a la unidad y el compañerismo entre ellos mismos. También es una buena oportunidad de mostrar el amor de Jesús a sus contrincantes, dado que a veces por cosas mismas del juego hay choques y aunque lo más fácil es discutir y hasta pelear, es ahí el momento donde ellos pueden aplicar el evangelio en dichas situaciones.
I am so thankful to God for the opportunity that he gives us to show his love to the children and teens of this community. It’s something that we project not only to the participants of the game, but also to their families. My wife Rosmary has taken the initiative to help me visit the homes of these children and teens so that their parents and other members of their families may know Jesus and live for Him.
Estoy agradecido con Dios por la oportunidad de que nos da, de mostrar su amor a los niños y jóvenes de esta comunidad. Es una labor que proyectamos no solo a los participantes del juego, sino también, a sus familias. Mi esposa Rosmary tiene el propósito de ayudarme a visitar los hogares de esos niños y jóvenes para que sus padres y demás miembros de sus familias conozcan a Jesús y vivan para El.
We know that it is a job that requires a lot of prayer and patience, understanding that, “patience is a bitter process, whose fruit is sweet.” With God’s help we will have a community that is changed for His glory.
Sabemos que es un trabajo que requiere de mucha oración y paciencia, y entiendo que,” la paciencia es un proceso amargo, cuyo fruto es dulzura.” Con la ayuda de Dios tendremos una comunidad cambiada para Su gloria.
