Happy Birthday Jesus, Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday Jesus…

Over the years we have had many groups adopt our students and then shop for them for Christmas. This year it seemed that no one was able to make that commitment and the teachers and I were worried that the students and families were going to be really disappointed!

But like ALWAYS, it turned out better than we could have imagined and the kids helped us remember what we were celebrating.

When we communicated with students and families that there may not be any gifts this year trying to ease the disappointment, students went to work to make decorations for their classroom trees, organize dramas, songs and verses to retell the Nativity Story and they even raised money to serve their parents a snack after their performance. Taking our focus off our Christmas wish list helped us remember what is important about the holiday season and God blessed us with many unexpected treasures…
