Haitians Mark One Month Since Quake

Composed on February 25th, 2010 by Rod & Twila Davis

Thanks to Joel and Yvonne Trimble’s Haiti For Christ Ministries for this info. Please follow the link to see an incredible sight. It is interesting how main stream media misses these little events. Haiti, out of sight, out of mind! On February 12 at exactly 4:53 PM when the 7.0 magnitude quake struck Haiti one month ago, hundreds of thousands of Haitians lifted their voices and hands in worship to Almighty God. All over Haiti church services spilled out into city streets and hymns were heard throughout the country. The largest worship gathering was in front of the National Palace once a beautiful copy of the Versailles in France, now a broken shell. AP captured the joyful outpouring on camera and you can view their footage by clicking on the link (more…)

Dear T.E.A.R.S. Friends and Family

Composed on January 15th, 2010 by Fey

Many of you have contacted us regarding the tragic earthquake that shook Haiti and the Dominican Republic yesterday. We thank each of you for the outpouring of prayers and support. We here in the Dominican Republic felt the rolling of the ground and swaying of the buildings. I was just getting home from picking up the kids when it hit. It felt like someone was jumping up and down on the bumper of our car. Fey and Rosa our neighbors, already outside started yelling, “terremoto, terremoto” as the ground continued to move for a few more seconds. We thank God everyone here is alright–but the same cannot be said for Haiti. What we felt was nothing in light of the devastation that has taken place in the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. (more…)

Davis Family Reunion

Composed on June 18th, 2009 by Rod & Twila Davis

We just pulled into Sacramento, California Monday night and are finally with Twila, thank the Lord! The last couple days have been trying to say the least, but God is faithful. We had to pay a few hundred dollars that we were not expecting to have to pay to leave the Dominican Republic because of changes in exoneration laws for missionaries. They asked for $415 US for each of the kids and $100 US for me. We all just cried (literally) because we did not have the cash to pay the fee and it was Sunday so (more…)

All aboard for a field trip to Salcedo! Yesterday, I got to join the students on a 45-minute trip to a museum in Salcedo dedicated to remembering the lives and work of the Mirabal sisters. Riding on a big bus, singing songs, and snacking en route it was a true field trip complete with rain and some road-sick-stomachs! (more…)
